The
celebration of Holy Communion lies at the heart of our worship
and community life. Our main Sunday service is a Parish Eucharist
and our worship is lead by a traditional liturgical choir.
Children are encouraged to participate in worship through
singing or serving and there is an active and vibrant Sunday
School. Once a month we have an All Age Service where the
young and old worship God together. We embrace the liturgies
of Choral Evensong, Wholeness and Healing, and we celebrate
all major Saints days and festivals. The churchs year
is shaped by the liturgical seasons of Advent, Lent, Christmas
and Easter and these are fully celebrated in worship and discipleship.

SUNDAY
SCHOOL
Godly Play @ St John's
explore,
wonder, play, develop...
A program of sunday morning activities
for children of all ages
Bring your child along for a journey of discovery, with time
for
children's worship, storytelling, crafts and the space to
wonder in awe...
'Kid's For Christ' will be using 'Godly Play' resources (http://
www.godlyplay.org.uk) together with opportunities for All-age
family
worship once a month.
At
St Johns we take our children and their spiritual development
seriously.
We want to provide them with the space and resources to spend
time
wondering and exploring their own relationship with God. In
the
process we fully expect to learn as much from the children
in our
community as they might learn from us.
To this end we run a program of Childrens activities for Sunday
mornings incorporating Godly Play. At the heart
of Godly Play
is the hope of Creating Sacred Space, Building and working
in
community, Learning religious language, Using religious language
to
make meaning and exploring spirituality. See www.godlyplay.org.uk
for more details.
A Godly Play session includes a time to:- get ready, hear
a story
using objects and artifacts, explore the story more with open
questions and discussion, respond with a free choice using
a variety
of materials including: arts... craft....
silence...play...writing...enjoying a simple feast and sharing.
At the end of each session we gather together with everybody
in
Church to receive Gods blessing.
